Delete an Appraiser

This topic explains how to delete an appraiser's column (and all scores in the column) from the Detail score sheet.

The rules for Destination Imagination require that, when an appraiser leaves a challenge before the challenge is complete, that the appraiser's scores be deleted (subtracted) from all challenges scored up to that time.

As such, you must delete an appraiser's column when an appraiser leaves and, when you delete the column, all of the appraiser's scores are permanently deleted and the teams' total scores are automatically recalculated.

You can also use this feature to delete an appraiser from a challenge level before scores are entered, such as when appraisers do not show up at the tournament, or when they are assigned to a different challenge level.

Notes
We strongly recommend that you make a copy of the tournament directory before deleting an appraiser. This step preserves the appraiser's scores for the record and lets you reinstate them easily if they return to the challenge. For help, see Back up the Tournament.
All computers scoring a challenge level must have the same appraiser list. Otherwise, you will not be able to check scores or merge scores accurately. If you change appraiser data, you must copy your changes to all affected computers (see Managing Appraiser Data).

To delete an appraiser column from the Detail score sheet:

  1. In a challenge-level window, from the Edit menu, select Edit Appraisers. (It doesn't matter which team is selected.)
Or, click the Edit Appraisers button in the toolbar.
  2. In the Edit Appraisers dialog box, click anywhere in that appraiser's column below the name, and then, from the Edit menu, select Delete appraiser. If you click on the appraiser's name, the program thinks you want to change that name.
Or, click the Delete Appraiser button in the toolbar.
  3. The DI Scoring Program displays a message reminding you that the appraiser's scores are also deleted. Click Yes to confirm the delete command.
    Note
The delete warning appears even when the appraiser has not yet scored a challenge.
  4. If deleting an appraiser leaves a scored element with fewer than the required number of appraisers, the DI Scoring Program displays a warning and asks you to fix it.

If the competition has not yet begun, you can fix it by adding an appraiser to the challenge level. Otherwise, click No.
