The first step in creating a tournament is to create a tournament directory, a folder on your hard drive that stores all of your tournament data.
You can place your tournament directory anywhere on your hard drive (or on removable media), but the default location for tournaments is in a subdirectory of the DI Scoring Program directory (by default, C:\Program Files\DI Scoring Program).
It's important that you become familiar with your tournament directory and its location. During the scoring process, you'll be opening, creating, copying, and moving your tournament directory. Also, advanced users might want to view the directory after each step of the process to see the files that the program creates.
If you forget the name or location of the tournament directory, click the Tournament Info button in the Tournament Summary Window toolbar. The path to the tournament directory is listed in the Directory field of the Tournament Information dialog box. |

Write the name of the directory and the path, such as C:\Program Files\DI Scoring Program\BigCityRegional, on your Planning Worksheet and keep it with your important tournament documents. You will need to know the name and location of the tournament directory in order to open your tournament again.
If you forget the location of the tournament directory, click the Tournament Info button on the Tournament Summary Window toolbar. The path to the tournament directory is listed in the Directory field of the Tournament Information dialog box. |
When you click Next, the Tournament Information dialog box appears. You use this dialog box to define important characteristics of the tournament.
