If you've completely mastered this whole new DI concept called Mobile Scoring and are absolutely comfortable with which information should first be entered through the Resources Area before Appraisers grab a "mobile device" (but not while the Team is performing before them, of course) and then skip the paper score sheet and writing device to enter their scores electronically.
If that's you I'm describing, maybe you should be composing this Documentation instead. If not, let's take a look at a plan for preparing to import Mobile Scores from the Resource Area into the DI Scoring Program.
Import Scores operates from the Tournament Summary window or from any individual Challenge and Level window. From an individual Challenge and Level window, scores are imported for only that Challenge and Level; from the Tournament Summary window, scores are imported for ALL.
Import Scores functions similarly to Merge Scores except that Merge combines scores from two or more separate computers, often representing two separate interpretations of the same hand written scores, while Import may be thought of as passing along scores, each directly from only one set of Appraiser eyes, brain and fingers.
Before scores can be imported by the DI Scoring Program from the Resource Area (RA), it is important to organize the non-score information (Team Numberer, Team Names, Appraiser Names, and Appraieser Assignments at a minimum) so that there's no disagreement between the Resource Area and the DI Scoring Program in those data elements. Team description information can be downloaded from the Register Your Team (ryt) database into your Tournament. Appraiser Names can also be downloaded from ryt, their Assignments can be added and all imported to the DI Scoring Program. These automated data-transfer steps can also be repeated often prior to the beginning of the Tournament. The DI Scoring Program contains useful Import steps to make this easy - Import Teams from Tournament and Import Appraisers from DIHQ (Resource Area), for example. Perhaps it's most convenient (and involving the least keyboarding effort) to make all tournament and schedule updates in RA and then make a last minute transfer to the DI Scoring Program at the beginning of Tournament Day!
