Intentionally Running Multiple Tournaments on One Computer
Warning - Advanced Topic! There are times it is
helpful to have a 2 or more Tournaments running on a single computer.
A good example is running a Master Tournament (merge of all 2nd entry
computers) and a Check tournament (merge of all 1st entry computers) on a
single computer for the Score Room Challenge Master. This should
only be done if you are very comfortable with the scoring program, with
merging, and updating shortcut preferences.
To set up multiple tournaments:
-
Create the tournaments in separate folders. As an example:
c:\DI Programs\Scoring Program 2025\Master and c:\DI Programs\Scoring
Program 2025\Check
-
Copy the Score Program shortcut on the desktop to another copy on the
desktop.
-
Name one DI Score Master and the other DI Score Check (or whatever make
sense to you).
-
Edit the properties (right click->properties) of each shortcut and
edit
the Target line so that it looks like below. Note the only thing you
should have to add is the text in Bold. Replace Master
with Check for the 2nd shortcut.
"C:\DI Programs\Scoring Program 2022\jre\bin\javaw.exe" -Ddiprefs.dir="C:\DI
Programs\Scoring Program 2025\Master" -cp "C:\DI Programs\Scoring Program
2025\jre\lib\rt.jar" -jar "C:\DI Programs\Scoring Program 2025\scoring.jar"
-
Note when you open the tournament with these shortcuts the first time,
they may be pointing to the wrong tournament, so use File->Open
tournament to point to the correct tournament. In the future the
shortcuts will open to the correct tournament.
